Our Story

Hotels in Haskovo 

The venue of the wedding is located outside of town, within 10-15 minutes drive with a car or taxi. So our advice is to book a place in town because there is no option to book anything at the restaurant where the main celebration is going to be. Once you choose your place you can go directly to the website of the hotel and book from there, if you want to avoid booking fees. Feel free to contact us anytime if you need any help with booking your accomodation.

It offers an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, and SPA for free. It is a very new building and a bit more luxurious. A bonus here is that the staff is comfortable with English.

About the Town 

Haskovo is a charming town in southern Bulgaria, located near the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, sunny climate, and mix of history, culture, and nature.The city has ancient roots going back to Thracian and Roman times, but today it feels peaceful and easygoing, with green parks, walkable streets, and friendly local life. It’s a great place to experience authentic Bulgaria away from the big tourist crowds.

1. Monument of the Holy Mother of GodThe symbol of the cityOne of the tallest Virgin Mary statues in the world (Guinness World Records)Offers amazing panoramic views over Haskovo. The monument is located on one of the hills of Haskovo, and once you get up there and survive, you can also take a stroll around the park that is located behind it and climb the Bell Tower right next to it.

2. Kenana Park

A beautiful oak forest area with long walking lanes through the forest. The town Zoo is located within the park and there is a Rope City within the forest where kids can climb safe tracks among the trees and adults can enjoy a beer. Perfect for walking, relaxing, or sports.One of the locals’ favourite places for a walk/run. Good places for drinks/local food on the walking lanes.

City Center 

Haskovo city centre is a wonderful place to take a walk, not very big, overwhelming, but certainly charming.

Banitsa - our signature move! Pastry with Bulgarian cheese. Rule of thumb - the greasier, the better!

Boza Boza is a must-try Bulgarian classic - a thick, fermented cereal drink usually made from wheat, maize, or millet, with a low alcohol content (around 1% or less) that makes it perfect for breakfast alongside pastries like banitsa; it has a creamy, almost porridge-like texture and a distinctive sweet-tangy, slightly acidic flavor that many locals love (and many foreigners need a moment to get used to), and it’s almost always enjoyed in bakeries paired with savory treats.

Shopska Salata - a salad with tomato, cucumber, onion, white cheese, and sometimes extras like peppers and spices. A great way to boost the vitamin intake in the Bulgarian flag colors!

Tarator - a cold soup made of yogurt, water, salt and cucumber. Dill and walnuts could be added. It can bring back to life the dead brain cells from the alcohol intake the previous night. There is a solid form of this, called Snejanka (Snowwhite) salad.

Rakia – Bulgaria’s Most Popular Traditional Alcoholic DrinkMade by fermenting large quantities of smashed fruits-most commonly grapes and plums- with water and sugar, then distilling the mixture into a strong spirit that’s usually around 40% alcohol in stores but often climbs to 50–60% (or higher) in homemade versions, which locals proudly compete over for both strength and taste. Rakia is best enjoyed not as a quick shot but slowly, with dinner and traditional foods like shopska salad, cheese, and meats, ideally with some water on the side - so you can raise a glass, say “Na zdrave!” (“To your health!”), and still remember the night.

Lutenitsa is a beloved Bulgarian savoury spread made primarily from roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and eggplant, resulting in a smoky, sweet, and slightly spicy relish. A Bulgarian horo is a traditional, group folk dance characterized by people holding hands or linking arms in a circle, line, or chain, moving together to rhythmic folklore music.It is tradition for us to dance horo at joyful events such as weddings, getting together with friends or any kind of celebration really. We will dance horo at the wedding for sure and we really hope you join us, it's easier than it look, we promise!

Pravo horo 

Pravo horo is one of the most beloved traditional dances from Bulgaria. The name “pravo” means “straight,” because the rhythm is steady and easy to follow. People dance it in a line or circle, holding hands, moving together with small, repeating steps. It’s often danced at weddings, festivals, and celebrations. Byala Rosa 

Byala Roza (Бяла роза) - literally translates as "White rose" and the horo is named after the classic song Byala Roza from a famous folclore singer - Slavka Kalcheva. Traditional Dances from Lithuania 

Oira, Oira 

“Oira” (often called “Oira, oira”) is a popular and cheerful Lithuanian folk dance, characterized by energetic steps and a strong sense of community. It is a traditional circle or partner dance, usually danced in a circle or in pairs, featuring light hops, turns, and side steps that are lively but not complicated. Dancers often rotate partners or shift positions, reinforcing its social and inclusive nature.
